Mug Brew
Brewing rolled loose-leaf tea is simple. If the leaves are rolled into small pearls (common in high mountain oolong), you can just:
-
Place about 8–10 rolled leaves into your cup or mug.
-
Pour hot water (around 190–200°F / 90–95°C) over the leaves.
-
Wait about 5 minutes, then enjoy.
You can drink it with the leaves still inside or strain them out — it’s completely up to you.
High mountain oolong is very forgiving. Even if you leave the leaves in the cup, the tea won’t turn bitter, thanks to its light oxidation and clean mountain-grown quality.

5 Tips using Tea pot
-
Tea Cup:
Besides personal preference, you can choose a white porcelain cup or a clear glass cup. These make it easier to observe the color of the tea liquor and how the leaves open. -
Water Temperature:
Each tea has its ideal brewing temperature, but oolong tea is generally brewed with high heat—around 95–100°C (203–212°F). -
Tea-to-Water Ratio:
A common recommendation is a 1:15 tea-to-water ratio.
• For ball-shaped oolong, use about 10g per vessel.
• For strip-shaped oolong, use about 5g.
-
Brewing Time:
• 1st–2nd infusions: 60 seconds
• 3rd–5th infusions: 70s, 80s, 90s
• After that, increase each infusion by 10 seconds.
When the tea no longer releases flavor, it’s time to replace the leaves. -
Tasting:
When tasting, start by smelling the aroma, then take a small sip and let it roll across your tongue. Notice the layers, texture, and evolving flavors. Enjoy the smooth sweetness and delicate notes that make oolong tea so special.
